A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is working hard to convince those in the club’s boardroom to renew his contract.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point to Andreas Christensen as the player in question.
Stopper Christensen was for his part of course widely expected to depart Catalunya’s capital over the summer.
This came after Deco made clear that there was an overbooking at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence.
In the end, however, it was Iñigo Martínez who made the call to depart, meaning Christensen was rather abruptly taken off the market.
The Dane for his part was adamant throughout the saga that his intention was to stay put and fight for his place.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, then Christensen’s mindset has not at all changed over the new season’s early weeks.
As per a report from MD, ahead of the expiration of his contract terms next summer, the former Chelsea man is pushing to wrestle back starter status for himself in Hansi Flick’s backline.
As much comes with a view to earning a new deal, with Christensen and his family alike eager to remain in Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
