La Liga champions Barcelona have moved ahead with an opening offer to sign Dominik Livaković from Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe. This comes amid a surprise ongoing pursuit of the goalkeeper on the part of the Camp Nou brass.
The name of shot-stopper Livaković, out of the blue, emerged as an altogether prominent one in the media headlines surrounding Barcelona on Wednesday.
Amid an early search for a replacement for Wojciech Szczęsny with a view to the 2027/28 campaign, the Croatian was widely tipped to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital.
Livaković is considered surplus to requirements by parent club Fenerbahçe at present, owing to the presence of former Manchester City standout Ederson in Istanbul.
Barca, in turn, are hopeful of bringing the 31-year-old in on a permanent basis this summer, before loaning him out for the duration of the season ahead.
And as alluded to above, these hopes have on Thursday given rise to an opening offer courtesy of Deco and co. As per a report from Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:
‘Barça has already sent a formal offer for Livakovic and trusts that Fenerbahçe will accept it. Around 3 million euros. It’s not a priority today, but it is a market opportunity.’
