Barcelona seem determined to bring in some depth in the full-back positions this summer transfer window, with several transfer targets shortlisted.
Among the many names linked with a move to the Catalan club is Marc Cucurella, who came through La Masia and has gone on to have a very good career.
The Chelsea left-back has been linked with a return to Spain, with Barcelona among the clubs tracking him carefully. Atletico Madrid are also interested.
It has been mentioned that for Barca, any move for Cucurella would depend on the future of Alejandro Balde and whether or not he stays at the club.
Now, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish international was asked about his future during an interview with El Partidazo de la Cadena COPE, but the defender made it clear that he does not want transfer talk to distract him during the World Cup.
He said, “Right now I don’t want to talk about that. The truth is that I am very happy where I am. I am happy, my family is very happy, but at the moment I don’t know anything.

“I don’t want to know anything. I want to enjoy this.”
The 27-year-old also mentioned that he has instructed his agents not to come to him with anything regarding transfers.
He added, “I’ve given orders not to talk to me about these issues in the coming days. I don’t like to worry.
“I already have enough to worry about with my family without having to deal with other matters.”
Barcelona’s admiration for Cucurella is easy to understand, as he came through La Masia, knows the club environment and has developed into a high-level full-back with intensity, tactical discipline and Premier League experience. Hansi Flick is also said to appreciate his profile.

But any move would be difficult. Cucurella’s price is expected to be between €40 million and €50 million, which makes the operation even harder for Barca unless there is movement elsewhere.
When asked directly to choose between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Cucurella avoided the question with a simple response: “Pasapalabra (pass the word).”
The Spaniard is smart enough not to get sucked into the transfer narrative and make a statement, only to earn the wrath of one fanbase or the other.
For Barcelona, it does not feel like Cucurella is a priority. He feels like a player the club are monitoring but will only move for under favourable conditions.
For now, the former academy defender remains focused on Spain. Barcelona remain interested, but the route back to Camp Nou still has a few hairpin bends that need to be navigated.
