Robert Lewandowski is in his fourth season at FC Barcelona, having arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022.

The striker, now 37 years old, has been a brilliant addition to the team and has played a key role in the club’s success during this period, winning two La Liga titles and several other trophies.

However, his contract with Barça stands to expire at the end of the season, and reports in Spain suggest that there will be no renewal for the veteran superstar.

Lewandowski’s exit a strong possibility

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Lewandowski, indeed, has strong chances to leave Barcelona at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The 37-year-old Poland captain is aware of the situation he finds himself in, although at this point, there has been no formal communication from the Blaugrana regarding his future, and the player has not accepted a departure as final.

At this point, both Barcelona and Lewandowski are fully focused on the ongoing season, with the veteran centre-forward confident that the team can challenge for and win all trophies.

Lewandowski has already seen his role diminish this season, with Hansi Flick favouring Ferran Torres as his preferred starter in the No. 9 role so far.

Despite that, the Pole has managed to net four goals, only one shy of his younger teammate.

For now, no firm decision has been made regarding Lewandowski’s future, and there has been no communication from either the club or the player regarding their intentions after this season.

But a departure as a free agent, when his contract expires on 30 June, 2026, is a significant possibility.
