Last night was a rather forgettable one for FC Barcelona in general, as they fell to a 4-1 defeat to Sevilla in their last La Liga game. The Blaugrana team was unable to stage a comeback in this match, even though Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back to take his team into the half-time break with a 2-1 deficit.
In the second half, the team’s performance somewhat improved, but Robert Lewandowski missed a golden chance to level the scores, from the penalty spot. On the other hand, the hosts scored 2 more goals in the dying minutes of the game to pile further misery on the visitors.
Among the few bright spots on the night was Roony Bardghji, who came on as a second-half substitute. As noted by Mundo Deportivo, the young winger injected much-needed energy and intent into Barcelona’s attack.
Bardghji immediately looked lively, taking on defenders with confidence and working his way into a couple of promising scoring opportunities, though he was unable to find the finishing touch. He also created a great chance for Pedri with a trademark cut inside from the flank, but the midfielder failed to convert.
Originally seen as the natural alternative to Lamine Yamal, Bardghji had to wait for his chance due to the experience of Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres. However, when given the opportunity, the Swedish youngster made a strong impression, showing why there is a growing belief he can be an exciting long-term addition for Barcelona.
While the result will sting for Hansi Flick’s men, Bardghji’s cameo was a reminder that the future might hold plenty of promise, even on a night when little else went right.
