The plans of the brass at La Liga giants Barcelona to tie up the signature of Espanyol star Joan García have this weekend been revealed.

The info comes courtesy of transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, and reiterates that the transfer can be considered all but imminent.

The name of shot-stopper Joan has of course dominated the European headlines for several weeks now.

This comes after a brilliant individual campaign on the books of Espanyol sparked widespread interest in the services of the 24-year-old.

The likes of Newcastle United, Manchester City and Arsenal, from England alone, were all tipped as potential landing spots for Joan.

The week to date, however, has seen a clear and dominant frontrunner emerge in the race for the talented shot-stopper.

As confirmed by a host of sources across Spain, Barcelona are on the verge of bringing Joan to the Camp Nou.

And as alluded to above, on Saturday, an insight into everything from the fee to the timeframe and the Blaugrana’s plans for next season has been provided.

As per Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barça plan for Joan García: trigger the €25m release clause next week, complete the move and consider him as immediate key player for first team. Barcelona are currently not considering a loan move anymore. Not an option.’
