Bayern Munich face potential UEFA sanctions after crowd incidents during their Champions League quarter-final win over Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena. UEFA confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have been opened.
The investigation focuses on crowd disturbances late on Wednesday. As Bayern scored a 4-3 winner deep into stoppage time, several supporters climbed barriers and moved to the edge of the pitch.
In the celebrations, fans pressed into the area behind the advertising boards, where photographers were positioned. Jamal Musiala jumped into the crowd and several journalists were reportedly caught in the chaos.
Police said at least four people, two women and two men, were injured, and Munich’s criminal police have launched an investigation.
It remains unclear what sanctions may follow, though a partial stadium closure could affect the semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Bayern are already under a suspended sanction from December 2025 involving closure of the Südkurve after repeated pyrotechnics. That punishment, issued by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, could now be activated.
Whether any measures arrive in time for Bayern’s most important home match of the season is uncertain. Vincent Kompany’s side meet Paris Saint-Germain on 28 April in Paris, then host the return on 6 May.
