Bayern Munich could be forced to send João Palhinha out on loan again after Tottenham walked away from a permanent deal.

According to BuLi News, Roberto De Zerbi wanted the midfielder permanently this summer, but Bayern refused to lower the €30 million option to buy, so Tottenham abandoned the move.

That stance appears to have backfired, with Benfica and Sporting interested but unable to meet the asking price.

Both Portuguese clubs prefer a loan, something Bayern want to avoid, leaving their hopes hinging on Aston Villa.

Bayern may have to cut the fee significantly or accept a loan, otherwise they risk being left with a player who has no role under Vincent Kompany.

Palhinha reported back for pre-season at Säbener Straße yesterday while he waits for a solution.
