Benfica lack the funds to sign João Palhinha at Bayern Munich’s asking price, Bild claims.

Palhinha’s future remains open and Benfica are monitoring his situation. The midfielder has not ruled out a move to the Estádio da Luz, but the outlay required is said to be beyond the club.

The report adds that he is not in Vincent Kompany’s plans and Bayern want a quick resolution. They are said to be growing desperate and are focusing their efforts on Aston Villa.

Aston Villa have shown interest in the 30-year-old, but have told Bayern they will not meet the 30 million euros mark. A loan is considered a possible solution, although Bayern would not make it easy.

Last season with Tottenham, Palhinha, valued at 15 million euros, played 45 matches, 33 in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, two in the League Cup, one in the FA Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup. Across 2,917 minutes, the midfielder scored seven goals and provided two assists.
