Former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder Bernd Schuster has said that he could see Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz move to La Liga.
Luis Diaz’s performances for Bayern Munich have reignited conversations about where his ceiling truly lies.
The Colombian winger has been one of the most consistent attacking threats under Vincent Kompany, but his latest display seems to have pushed him into a different bracket altogether.
Among those taking notice is Bernd Schuster, a figure who understands Spanish football better than most.
Having represented Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid during his career, and later managing Real Madrid, his words carry weight when it comes to identifying players suited for La Liga’s elite.
Schuster did not hesitate to place him among players capable of making the jump to Spain’s biggest clubs.
He made it clear that what he saw was not just form, but quality that translates across leagues.

“When I saw him, I said: this is a player for Spain, for one of the big three. I could see him at Barcelona and at a revitalised Real Madrid,” he said, according to AS.
Schuster went further, breaking down the Colombian’s profile and what makes him stand out in a crowded field of attacking talent.
“This player has really surprised me… he’s a goal-scorer, he has a knack for scoring, but he’s a team player who can set up goals for his teammates,” Schuster added.
Interestingly, it must be noted that Colombian was one of the players that Barcelona were analysing during the summer transfer window of 2025.
Alongside the South American, the likes of Nico Williams and Marcus Rashford were on the agenda.
However, due to his higher transfer fee, Barcelona decided to end the chase, with Diaz choosing to move to Bayern Munich for €75 million, including add-ons.
