Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will start in goal against Manchester City on Sunday.
United are preparing for one of their toughest tests of the season when they meet Pep Guardiola’s side in the first Manchester derby of the campaign.
They have struggled for results, collecting only one victory from their first three league fixtures.
Problems in goal have worsened the club’s shaky start. They signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day.
Amorim is hopeful that adding depth will help the squad settle and improve results.
Speaking ahead of the clash with City, Amorim made it clear that Bayindir will be trusted in goal.
The Turkish international joined United in 2023 but has not had many chances to prove himself. The manager is placing complete faith in the 27-year-old.
Bayindir has featured in United’s opening three league matches, and Amorim confirmed he will keep his place for the derby.
Amorim said that the Cameroonian’s exit was the best outcome for both parties.
United are ninth in the league table after taking just four points from three matches.
With one win and one draw, Amorim knows that results must improve quickly. The derby against City provides a chance for his side to set the tone for the weeks ahead.
