Chelsea fans have long been worried about the direction the club is going under the new owners – now it seems like the players are starting to feel the same way,.
Comments in the international break from Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez have revealed there’s discontent in the dressing room about this “project.” Just like the fans, it seems the players are starting to worry that major trophies are no longer on the agenda.
According to Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC, players have been told that the club are going to bring in big stars this summer to improve the squad:
“Privately, the club have assured Cucurella and captain [Reece] James – the latter during his most recent contract renewal – that signings with proven Premier League experience will arrive at centre‑back, central midfield and in attacking areas.”
Will that be enough to keep everyone believing? We will have to wait and see. But certainly this feels like a summer they have to make a splash rather than sign more youngsters.
Chelsea have been rumoured with interest in bringing back Lewis Hall to the club – something that would make them very popular with fans.
The piece also covers our rather surprising interest in Nick Woltemade, who has been struggling at Newcastle since signing last summer.
