Ben Clark agrees long-term Gateshead deal to stay first-team coach | OneFootball

Ben Clark has signed a long-term contract to remain Gateshead’s first-team coach. According to Sunderland Echo, the National League side have kept the former interim boss as part of a revamped coaching team.

The former Sunderland and Hartlepool United defender worked on Rob Elliot’s staff during the second half of last season. Gateshead are seeking a new manager after Elliot left earlier this week, and hope to appoint a successor in the coming week.

During that spell, the Heed pulled off a remarkable escape from relegation to National League North. They had been 11 points adrift after a 15-game run without a win.

Following recent talks, he will form part of the coaching team under the new manager when the squad report back for pre-season next month.

Clark said the club means a great deal to him and he is eager for the new season. He spoke of enjoying day-to-day work developing players and of the strong feel-good factor around the club and community, which he is keen to experience again next season.
