Franjo Ivanovic is expected to leave Benfica on loan for 2026/27, according to Glorioso 1904. The Croatian striker joined from Union Saint-Gilloise for more than €22 million and has not secured a regular starting place.
Competition from Vangelis Pavlidis and the emergence of youngster Anísio Cabral have limited his minutes, leaving him lower in José Mourinho’s pecking order. The club are studying a loan to protect their investment and help the forward build rhythm and confidence.
The plan under consideration is for Ivanovic to return in 2027/28 better equipped to contribute consistently to Benfica’s attack. The board are weighing options to bring him back to the Estádio da Luz better prepared to take a more significant role.
Ivanovic, under contract until 2030, said in a recent interview that he hopes for more playing time. Having already represented two clubs this season, he was ineligible for a European loan in the winter window.
This season for Benfica he has made 31 appearances, 15 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and two in the Taça da Liga. Across 1,103 minutes he has scored five goals and supplied one assist.
He is valued at €20 million.
