Benfica do not intend to postpone either of their first two Liga Portugal Betclic fixtures, despite regulations allowing clubs in UEFA qualifying to do so. The plan is to honour the schedule, with only minor date tweaks if required.

The 2026/27 framework permits Benfica and Sporting de Braga to delay one game across the opening three rounds because of European commitments, but the Eagles have opted against it. Matchdays could still slide from Saturday to Sunday or Monday, depending on European dates, according to Correio da Manhã.

If Benfica overcome St. Gallen, they will learn whether the next qualifying first leg is at home or away. Should the tie on six August be staged at Estádio da Luz, the opener against Académico de Viseu should be played on nine August. If the European trip is away, that league game would move to 10 August.

While discounting delays in rounds one and two, Benfica are still weighing a postponement for round three against Moreirense, currently set for 23 August.

That option would spread the workload more evenly before the first international break.

The second round schedule could also shift after the Europa League or Europa Conference League play-off draw on three August, depending on whether Benfica progress or drop into UEFA’s secondary competition.
