Sky Germany reports that Benjamin Sesko has been left out of the RB Leipzig squad to face Atalanta due to the player’s imminent departure. This comes after Newcastle United submitted an opening offer of €75m plus €5m in bonuses to sign the Slovenian, which matches Leipzig’s valuation.
But as well as Newcastle, Manchester United also remain in the hunt to sign Sesko, who scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season. Although Sesko is yet to make a decision on which club he prefers to move to, Florian Plettenberg reports that the 22-year-old has already informed his teammates that he will be leaving the Saxony club.
Newcastle are looking for a striker as the future of Alexander Isak is in the air as he looks to force a move to Liverpool. The Magpies tried to sign former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké earlier this window, even submitting a bid for the 23-year-old. Not only was the bid rejected, but the Frenchman opted to move to Liverpool as well.
Seško is not the only Leipzig player to leave the club this summer, Xavi Simons continuing to push for a move away from the Red Bull Arena. Chelsea are currently the front-runners for the 22-year-old’s signature
