Bernardo Silva’s latest comments about his future have put Barcelona on alert. The Portugal international said he has yet to decide his next step and has several options, a stance not well received in Catalonia after he previously turned down Benfica.
Sport reports that Barcelona had believed he would prioritise them if he chose to leave Manchester City. By saying he is seeking a project where he feels genuinely wanted, uncertainty has grown around a possible move to Catalonia.
The midfielder is a free agent after rejecting a new contract with the English club, a scenario that had raised hopes of landing a long-standing target.
Jorge Mendes had previously told Barcelona the player viewed the Catalan side as a priority. His openness to other possibilities has caused unease within Joan Laporta’s hierarchy.
In 2025/26 for Manchester City, Bernardo Silva, valued at 22 million euros, made 53 appearances, 38 in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, three in the League Cup and four in the FA Cup. Across 3,854 minutes he recorded three goals and five assists.
