Birmingham City sign American defender Kovacs | OneFootball

Birmingham City have completed the signing of American defender Michaela Kovacs on a short-term deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Blues this afternoon.

The 28-year-old defender will initially spend the remainder of the season with Birmingham City, helping the club in their quest to regain their position in the English top flight.

Kovacs joins Blues following a spell playing her football in the Norwegian Toppserien with Vålerenga where she won two league titles and a domestic cup. The player has also turned out for Boavista, Morön BK and KIF Örebro in her career to date.

On the international stage, Kovacs represented the United States in her youth. She has never been capped by The Stars and Stripes at senior level.

After joining Birmingham City, Kovacs said “I’m very excited to get started. It’s been a really warm welcome from the minute I got off the plane to meeting everyone here. It’s been fantastic so far.

“The ambition here is clear, and I want to be part of pushing Birmingham City back to where it belongs.”

Kovacs will be available for selection once the relevant international clearance has been obtained, along with Barclays WSL2 approval.
