Bizarre stat: Atlético Madrid star now has more goals vs Liverpool than Cristiano Ronaldo | OneFootball

A head-turning statistic surrounding the production of Atlético Madrid star Marcos Llorente in fixtures against Liverpool has come to the fore online.

This of course comes fresh off a starring display on the part of the Spaniard on Wednesday night.

Llorente for his part featured from the off yesterday evening, as Atlético kicked their Champions League campaign into gear with a daunting trip to Anfield.

When all was said and done, Diego Simeone’s troops were put to the sword by three goals to two, owing to a last-gasp Virgil van Dijk winner.

Responsible for both of the visitors’ goals, and in turn their comeback from two goals down, though, was the aforementioned Marcos Llorente.

And as alluded to above, these impressive exploits have since given rise to quite the statistic.

As revealed by ‘StatMuse’ on ‘X’:

‘Fun fact: Marcos Llorente (4) has scored more goals against Liverpool than Cristiano Ronaldo (3).’

This of course comes despite the fact that Ronaldo spent a pair of separate stints plying his trade in the Premier League with Manchester United.
