BlueCo-owned Strasbourg hit with €13m UEFA fine | OneFootball

BlueCo-owned RC Strasbourg Alsace have been handed a €13m fine from UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body, European football’s governing body has announced on Tuesday. Following the audit of its accounts, the CFCB First Chamber found that the Ligue 1 side significantly breached the squad cost rule by reporting a squad cost ratio above 70% for the 2025 calendar year. 

It essentially means that Strasbourg’s first team costs too much in comparison to the revenue it generates. Should Strasbourg fail in 2026 to comply with the framework negotiated with UEFA, an additional financial penalty of €12m will be imposed. 

In a statement released by L’Equipe, Strasbourg say that they “acknowledge that their squad cost ratio exceeded the threshold set by UEFA during a period of significant investment and accept the financial penalty imposed under this rule.” The Ligue 1 side vows to continue to do everything possible to implement a model that meets UEFA’s requirements in the long term.
