Boca to face Recoleta de Paraguay in Sudamericana last 16 | OneFootball

Boca squeezed past O’Higgins on penalties to reach the Copa Sudamericana last 16, setting up a tie with Recoleta de Paraguay. After a laboured tie, improvement will be required.

LaNumer12.com.ar reports that the tie will start the week of 12 August at La Bombonera, with the return away the week of 19 August, as in the playoffs.

Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side advanced on penalties after another poor display in the competition. They edged a hard-fought win at La Bombonera, then lost 1-0 at El Teniente de Rancagua in the 90 minutes.

The shootout finished 4-3. Tomas Aranda missed from the spot and Álvaro Montero saved one to clinch progress.

Recoleta, from Asunción, topped Group D with only 8 points, earned from one win and five draws. Their pool with Santos, San Lorenzo and Deportivo Cuenca was the weakest of the initial phase.
