Bordeaux set National 2 attendance record with 22,500 for Les Herbiers | OneFootball

Bordeaux have 22,500 tickets already taken for the National 2 Group A visit of Les Herbiers, setting a new French fourth-tier attendance record, according to L'Équipe.

The fixture, matchday 29, is scheduled for Saturday at 18:00. The new mark surpasses Strasbourg's 20,044 for a derby with Mulhouse in April 2013 in the former CFA.

Bordeaux's previous highest home gate this season was 12,000 for the 1-0 win over Poitiers on 14 March.

In Group A, they are one point behind leaders La Roche-sur-Yon after last week's 2-1 victory at Bayonne. Since Rio Mavuba was promoted to head coach, they have enjoyed encouraging momentum.

La Roche have drawn their last four, their lead having shrunk after being seven points clear.

The runners-up could still go up if there is more than one administrative relegation in National, the future Ligue 3, and if they top a mini-table of the three group second-placed teams based only on results against each pool's top six. In that ranking, Bordeaux are second, three points behind Lusitanos-Saint-Maur.
