Borussia Dortmund are reported to be leading the chase for 16-year-old Hertha BSC midfielder Kennet Eichhorn. Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Manchester City and Real Madrid have also been linked.

Bild claims Dortmund currently have the best chance of signing the teenager. Eichhorn could leave via a €10-12 million release clause, although the 2. Bundesliga club hope to keep him.

Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber said no decision had been made and the club are in contact with the player's parents as they try to persuade him to stay for another year.

Weber cited guaranteed playing time, security at a young age and development time as Hertha's key arguments. One option mentioned in the report is a summer sale with a loan back for the 2026/27 season.

Eichhorn has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign and set a record on Sunday. At 16 years, nine months and 13 days, he became the youngest scorer in 2. Bundesliga history in Hertha's 2-1 win over Greuther Fürth.

He was 52 days younger than Günter Reeg, who held the mark since 1985. It was his second goal for Hertha after scoring in December's 6-1 DFB-Pokal round of 16 win over Kaiserslautern.

The central midfielder has made 18 appearances this season.
