Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich clash in the Bundesliga at Borussia-Park on Saturday.
Interim boss Eugen Polanski faces a mounting injury crisis ahead of the toughest test imaginable. The former Poland international, who took charge following Gerardo Seoane’s dismissal last month, will be without four key players.Tim Kleindienst remains sidelined with a meniscus injury, while fellow forward Robin Hack is also out after undergoing knee surgery. Nathan Ngoumou continues his recovery from an Achilles tendon rupture with a return not expected until December and Shuto Machino is doubtful after illness.
Polanski confirmed he will remain in charge, stating: “I’m receiving very good support from everyone – from the management, the coaching staff, and the team”.
Vincent Kompany will have two key players back after recovering from injuries. Serge Gnabry and Josip Stanisic both completed Friday’s final training session without complications and are available for selection.
Gnabry missed recent victories over Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge with an adductor injury but had made an electrifying start with six direct goal involvements in his first six league appearances. Stanisic suffered a medial collateral ligament injury during the Champions League victory over Chelsea but has returned to full training.
Jonas Urbig will start in goal. Vincent Kompany wants to give the goalkeeper match practice ahead of next week’s DFB-Pokal fixture, with Manuel Neuer suspended for that fixture.
Jamal Musiala continues his recovery from long-term injury with a potential January return targeted, while Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito remain absent.
Die Fohlen are enduring a nightmare start, failing to register a victory in their opening seven Bundesliga matches. With just three points from three draws, Gladbach sit bottom with only six goals scored and fifteen conceded.
Bayern Munich are rewriting the history books under Vincent Kompany. The Bavarian giants have won all 11 competitive matches to start the 2025-26 season, equalling Borussia Dortmund’s record from 2015-16. Their perfect Bundesliga record of seven wins with 27 goals scored and just four conceded represents the best-ever start to a German top-flight season.
Harry Kane has been the catalyst, netting 12 Bundesliga goals already. His glancing header in last weekend’s 2-1 Der Klassiker victory over Dortmund marked his 400th career club goal. Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League demolition of Club Brugge extended their winning streak to twelve matches.
Borussia Monchengladbach: Nicolas; Scally, Elvedi, Diks, Netz; Reitz, Engelhardt, Sander; Honorat, Tabakovic, Castrop.
Bayern Munich: Urbig; Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Gnabry, Diaz; Kane.
