Braga are on the cusp of qualifying for the Conference League after a 2-0 victory against Austria Vienna in the playoff first leg at the Quarry.

Pau Victor saw an early chance deflected over the bar but the striker would get another chance from the penalty spot.

Denis Huseinbasic dispossessed Ibrahim Buhari and charged into the box where he was brought down by the left-back, referee Ibrahim Buhari pointing to the spot where Victor stroked the ball down the middle.

Fran Navarro went a whisker wide following some nice work from Gabriel Silva as Carlos Vicens’ side went into half-time well on top.

The visitors went close after the break however, Julian Hettwer testing Bernardo Fontes with a fierce strike. The resulting corner picked out Manfred Fischer who diverted the ball off the underside of the bar.

Victor stepped up to the spot again in the 84th minute after Fischer caught Víctor Gómez with a high shot. Samuel Radlinger guessed correctly and saved Victor’s penalty.

The Warriors got their second goal in the 88th minute after a perfectly executed counter attack. Mario Dorgeles raced down the right wing, cut inside and played the ball through to Diego Rodrigues who took a touch and found the bottom corner.

The Portuguese club are yet to concede in five Conference League qualifiers and will be confident of getting the job done in Vienna next week.
