After an exciting weekend of Premier League action, players are scattering across the globe to play for their national teams.
The bad news is already filtering through, such as the report from the England camp that Reece James has withdrawn from England duty due to an injury picked up on Saturday against Liverpool.

“The Chelsea captain sustained an injury playing for his club over the weekend and has been ruled out of England’s October internationals following medical assessments,” the England statement read.
Now we can only speculate about this problem, and we don’t want to jinx it. But we are hoping it’s more a question of fatigue after such an intense run of playing for the defender, not a proper new injury.
James’ weekly minutes have crept up since his return in the spring, and this last spell might have just been too much for him. He played in 3 positions against Liverpool, ending up at centre back, and the idea he would now go to an England training camp and 2 games with the Three Lions did seem extreme.
Either way, we likely won’t know anything for almost two weeks, until Enzo Maresca takes his press conference ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest next week.
The only reason we’d know more (say, from a Chelsea insider or well connected writer) is if the problem is really bed. So in a way, we hope we don’t hear anything.
The good news for James is that Thomas Tuchel knows and likes him, so he won’t have to worry about losing his status with the England boss as next summer’s World Cup gets closer and closer.
