Brenden Aaronson says Daniel Farke’s angry half-time words sparked Leeds United’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland, the midfielder supplying the assist for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser.

Leeds had been on the back foot in the North East after Joe Rodon’s injury and a Sunderland goal before the interval. “I think the coach did a great job of, you know, laying into us when we need to be laid into, you know, because I think, of course, he’s a great coach. He’s a great guy. He doesn’t like, you know, he’s not laid back in a way, but when he’s angry, you know, we all know, and that’s the good thing about it. And it’s a good relationship in that way. So I think it’s good for us.” He was speaking to LUTV.

Just after the restart, Calvert-Lewin finished a flowing team move to level, with Aaronson providing the pass, and Leeds claimed a point against their fellow newly promoted side.

Aaronson delivered an impressive midfield display, registering 15 touches in the opposition box and creating five chances, both the highest figures in the match.

He has undoubtedly taken longer than most expected to find his best form. After back-to-back impressive displays, the Medford Messi is starting to live up to the nickname.
