Breno Bidon has hailed Bruno Guimarães as his biggest influence and thanked Corinthians while on Brazil duty.

Brazil drew 1-1 with Australia in Townsville, where Bidon was an unused substitute. He could make his debut on Tuesday 29 when the sides meet again in Brisbane.

He highlighted the midfielder’s rise, now at Arsenal. "From the current generation, Bruno Guimarães is someone I follow a lot. He had a very good World Cup and managed to stand out. He started young in Brazil and he is someone I really look up to. From what I have seen, he has a very good, winning mentality, and on the pitch he has been playing very well," he told CBF TV.

Formed at Corinthians, Bidon underlined the club’s role in his journey. "The importance of Corinthians is huge. If it were not for them, I would not be here. They opened the door for me. I arrived at 14 after being released several times by other clubs. Corinthians welcomed me and gave me a chance. Thank God I moved from the academy to the first team and stayed there."

The 21-year-old is experiencing his first senior call-up, selected by Carlo Ancelotti for the Super Data Fifa and named in squads to face Australia and India.

Corinthians team-mates Hugo Souza and Matheuzinho were also called up for this window and both started in the draw with Australia.
