Brentford face a Mikkel Damsgaard fitness worry before Saturday’s visit to Leeds United after the midfielder suffered a knock in Monday’s draw.
“He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet.” “It has been frustrating and he has played through a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is,” he told West London Sport after the draw.
The Bees drew 2-2 at home to virtually-relegated Wolves. Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago made it 2-0 by the 37th minute before Adam Armstrong replied. Shortly before Tolu Arokodare’s 77th-minute equaliser, Damsgaard took a knock, tried to continue, then was replaced by Kristoffer Ajer.
Damsgaard has three goals and four assists in 26 Premier League games, including 18 starts. He left the 25 January Forest match with a knee problem, missed one league game, then played seven more, completing 90 minutes twice.
He will be assessed this week and could add to Brentford’s absentees. Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey are sidelined until after the March break, while Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are likely out for the season.
Brentford have won only one of their last five league games, a 4-3 at Burnley, drawing the last two. “We should have managed the game better and performed better in the second half,” he said.
“What we achieve this year is very much on us. That’s the message for everyone at the club.”
