Stade Brestois have unveiled a revamped structure that hands new head coach Julien Lachuer greater responsibility and puts youth development at the forefront, following the death of Eric Roy and the exit of sporting director Grégory Lorenzi to Marseille. The club said in a statement that this follows Roy’s wish to broaden the coach’s remit rather than replace the sporting director, and that they will keep to that course despite his passing.

The Ligue 1 side, 12th last season, will be run by a single steering committee covering the first team and academy. It includes president Denis Le Saint and his brother Gérard as co-owners, chief executive Pascal Robert, and newcomer Jules Diatta as sporting legal director.

On the sporting side, Grégory Peres, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s former assistant at Brest from 2019 to 2021, becomes director of methodology for the academy. The recruitment department will be completely renewed.

The strategy prioritises youth and the Finistère talent pool amid the wider TV rights crisis in French football, with player development elevated to a major strategic focus given the limited pathway to the senior squad in recent seasons.

To support the shift, a modern performance centre is planned for May 2027. The overhaul brings governance, recruitment and methodology under one framework across the club.
