The Seagulls will be bidding to win a first major trophy when they contest the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final with Manchester City at Wembley this afternoon.
Vidošić has worked wonders in his two years at Brighton & Hove Albion and he now hopes to deliver some joy for the club’s growing fanbase.
“For us, it’s a very joyous occasion when you win, especially in the manner that we did at Liverpool [in the semi-finals] but you get more joy when it brings other people joy as well,” Vidošić said when speaking in the pre-match press conference.
“We want people to come out, enjoy, give up their weekends to watch good football. If we can bring them a first major trophy along with that, you’ll probably see me take a backward step, taking it all in and observing the scenes.”
Brighton & Hove Albion recorded an excellent 3-2 victory over Manchester City when the two sides met in Crawley last month. Vidošić said that some confidence can be taken from that game but this afternoon’s contest could be quite different.
He said “A little bit [of confidence] but it’s a new game. It’s the same teams but the context is different, the game is different. Both teams have had two weeks to prepare, so we have to be ready for something a little bit different.
“We want to focus on us. We will take some learnings like any other game. We’ve looked at the last game and even the first game that we played but sometimes, when there’s such a gap between games, it’s a little bit of the unknown.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have had a two-week preparation period for the game. Vidošić said that the excitement levels haven’t really hit just yet.
He said “In the preparation, it feels like any other game. I don’t think the excitement really hits until you are there or are on the bus then you feel the atmosphere around the stadium, from our fans, from the opposition fans or just the build of the day.
“In Australia, we have a lot of grand finals. I’ve been a part of that day and it is a special one but it never really hits until you’re actually there.
“We’ve enjoyed the process, enjoyed the journey and now we get the chance to compete for the final trophy that’s at stake.”
The 2025/2026 Adobe Women’s FA Cup final between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City kicks-off at 3pm.
