Burnley may have come up with Leeds United but the former have been relegated and the latter have survived in the Premier League, but the Whites could yet move for forward Zian Flemming.

In terms of attackers for the newly-promoted clubs, only Dominic Calvert-Lewin (14) has more than Zian Flemming's 11 goals in all competitions this term. The Burnley forward has 10 in the Premier League after his recent strike against Aston Villa.

Having struck 14 goals and notched four assists for Scott Parker in 37 games last season, Flemming's 11 goals in 30 matches is remarkable for a side guaranteed to finish 19th or 20th in English football's top flight.

The Dutchman is sure to have suitors after such an impressive campaign and Flemming has been linked with a move to Leeds United, with Football Insider claiming the Whites are eyeing a move this summer.

The Burnley verdict on Leeds United's interest in Zian Flemming

FLW’s Burnley fan pundit Josh Lucas was asked for his thoughts on Flemming and Leeds. We asked if it is inevitable that he leaves following a strong individual campaign and also if he thinks he’d be a good fit for Leeds or if perhaps more of a move abroad would suit him?

He said: "It does seem a little bit inevitable, obviously. To score 10 Premier League goals in that side, a side so poor, it does seem inevitable that he's going to go.

"We were hoping we could've at least got another year out of him. So, if we don't go up, then he can go type of thing. Obviously, we gave him his chance in the Premier League pretty much.

"So he'll hopefully repay us. But if a team like Leeds come in, obviously known for their physicality, and that's what Flemming is known for as well, it would probably be too hard to turn down.

"Especially if they give him a good enough deal. It's not like he's got to move too far away from where he is now. A move abroad probably wouldn't suit him as much as Flemming clearly likes a physical battle and he's not going to get many of them in a lot of leagues.

"A lot of leagues are quick-paced, whereas he is clearly built for a game where he can use his ability to keep hold of the ball, and turn, and play it off. Also, like, in the air he's quite strong as well.

"I think a team like Leeds would be quite a perfect fit for him, really."

The case for Leeds not signing Zian Flemming from Burnley

Leeds certainly need to ease the burden on Calvert-Lewin this summer and Flemming has done enough at Burnley to attract Premier League interest again. However, top-flight clubs should think carefully before spending heavily on the Dutchman this summer.

While his versatility as a striker or playing just off a centre-forward is handy, and his eye for goal makes him an effective enough weapon, Burnley are likely to demand a fee north of £15 million, which could prove difficult to justify for someone unlikely to be a regular starter in the Premier League.

At 28 in August, Flemming is also not a long-term developmental project with huge resale value, meaning clubs would need immediate impact to justify the investment. There has even been talk of a £15-25 million sort of price tag for Flemming.

His best role is arguably as a number ten or supporting forward, but many established Premier League sides already possess greater athleticism, pace, and creativity in those areas. As a result, he could quickly become an expensive squad option.
