In the past few mercatos, AC Milan have been seemingly more open to spend money on arrivals. However, this has not always been a good thing.

Looking at the squad that Milan have currently, there can certainly be debates about whether money has been spent well and/or right. Of course, there will be debates about players all the time, barring the occasional ‘he’s good’ or ‘he’s bad’. Most of the time though, there is a bit of a split.

Football, after all, is a game of opinions, so without these debates about players it would be quite dry. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri have spent a lot of money this season, and there are heavy debates about how much of it has been good.

In fact, the management themselves have realised that some spending was not great, when Emerson Royal was waved towards the door in the January mercato, just six months after signing – a task which they succeeded in doing with Alvaro Morata.

Now, Fabio Capello has taken a chance to review the squad after the mercatos this season for Gazzetta dello Sport, and it is not too positive, as Milan Press relays.

“Milan’s standings speak one way, their game another. The results have arrived lately , but even when Milan wins, they concede a lot and play for twenty minutes. Goalkeeper Maignan has been doing very well in the last period.

It’s not a Milan that dominates. The positive aspect is that they always react: not a detail. Of course, with what they spent on the market, the Rossoneri will have regrets about the current standings and the Champions League.

“Let’s see how the Coppa Italia final goes: Milan has something more than Bologna, as long as everyone plays at one hundred percent. But let’s get back to what we were talking about before : the Rossoneri are unpredictable.

“It’s not known whether they’ll play twenty minutes or a whole match. For Bologna, it’s a historic opportunity.”
