Carles Martinez Novell could leave Toulouse for Girona, with Olivier Pantaloni under consideration to replace him after his departure from Lorient.

Tuesday's 1-4 defeat at Lens in the Coupe de France semi-finals has not triggered major changes. With four league games left, he wants to finish well and will meet president Olivier Cloarec, who set Wednesday as a deadline.

He said: "We had discussions six weeks ago, we agreed to meet again after the semi-final," he told RMC. "Everything is open," he added.

Any change would owe more to an end-of-cycle feeling, with planned sales of key players, than to the Bollaert defeat. His camp has not responded or confirmed any Girona approach. Girona are thought to be braced to lose Michel, soon out of contract and courted by Ajax Amsterdam.

A move would let the Catalan work in La Liga and be nearer family, seen more as a life choice after years abroad for the former La Masia coach.

For now, Toulouse have made no contact with candidates, prioritising the Martinez Novell decision. Pantaloni, 59, is interested and could reunite with Jordan Galtier, 37, his former assistant at AC Ajaccio from 2021 to 2023, now on the TFC staff and soon to hold the BEPF.
