CD Castellón have formally asked LaLiga to avoid opening next season at home, so they will begin away and will not play at SkyFi Castalia until late August, according to El Periódico Mediterráneo.

The league is set for the weekend of 15 and 16 August. Castellón have requested to play the first two rounds away, but do not yet know if LaLiga will grant that. The club expects the opener to be away due to safety works.

A key project is the UCO, an organisational control unit with high-resolution cameras and a security room. From there staff will oversee surveillance, access control and emergency management, linked to the public address system and the video scoreboard.

A new VIP area is planned in the Tribuna Alta. Season-ticket holders there are not expected to be affected, with a reshuffle of existing press desks and spaces now used for security.

Further upgrades cover internal areas, including work in the dressing rooms and an expanded players' gym. The VIP spaces are intended to bring the stadium, opened in 1987, into line with the modern game.

All works sit within the agreement governing use of the municipal SkyFi Castalia. Signed in 2024 by the council led by mayor Begoña Carrasco and the club chaired by Haralabos Voulgaris, it grants CD Castellón use and exploitation of the ground for 50 years.
