Edinson Cavani has been given the medical all-clear after a little over two months out and is back training with Boca Juniors. His return could come in the Copa Libertadores meeting with Cruzeiro.
According to SuperDepor.com, the Uruguayan striker received the green light on Tuesday, resumed full sessions and is available to coach Claudio Úbeda. The Cruzeiro tie is the fifth matchday of the group stage.
Boca had said Cavani was recovering from a back issue. “He has a herniated disc, or the disc is pressing on the nerve. He had to have two blocks. We hope he recovers soon because he is important for us,” club manager Marcelo Chelo Delgado said, speaking to Radio La Red.
Chile international Carlos Palacios, who has not played in 2026, is also training with the group. Like Cavani, he is targeting a return to action and both worked with the ball.
Boca are set for three fixtures before the semester ends, two to close the Libertadores group and a Copa Argentina round of 32 tie against Sarmiento de Junín. That cup date is yet to be confirmed, though it is expected before 31 May. Cavani’s last appearance was a start against Racing Club on 20 February, and he aims to get minutes before the break then build through pre-season.
