CD Castellón have unveiled a limited-edition retro shirt inspired by their 1990/91 top-flight campaign, and it sold out in under 12 hours. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the release forms part of LaLiga’s Jornada Retro and was showcased during Madrid Fashion Week.
It is an homage to the club’s last season in Primera División, after promotion in 1989 and survival in 1990. The design takes black and white stripes with red numbers, and trades the old Lotto mark for current supplier Erreà, with this season’s sponsors retained. It is an inspiration rather than a replica, shaped by contracts and LaLiga regulations.
The shirt went on sale at 21.30 on the club’s official online store, limited to 100 units. A special package has been created for the piece, with a QR code linking to extra content.
Goalkeeper Emilio Isierte and defenders Javi Valls and Alfredo Monfort feature in the promotional video. Monfort also appears in imagery shot at SkyFi Castalia, alongside current midfielder Diego Barri.
LaLiga’s Jornada Retro will run from 10 to 13 April. Castellón are due to play away at Mirandés during that window, with the exact date to be confirmed. Broadcasts will adopt a bespoke retro look, part of a pioneering initiative in European football.
