Celta Vigo are once again eyeing Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena, claims a report from German Bona in SPORT.
The outlet mentions that the La Liga club had previously shown interest in the 26-year-old but backed off due to financial constraints.
However, with doubts growing over their current goalkeeping options, Pena has re-emerged as a serious target.
Earlier in the summer, Celta looked set in goal with the signing of Romanian keeper Andrei Radu, who was brought in to be the new number one.
But his shaky performances during pre-season have raised eyebrows within the club. Meanwhile, backup keeper Ivan Villar is not seen as a reliable alternative, despite having a contract until 2027.

His inconsistency has long been a point of concern for both fans and the coaching staff. For a club preparing to compete in Europe this season, having a dependable figure between the posts is no longer a luxury – it is a necessity.
As things stand, Inaki Pena is negotiating his departure from Barcelona. However, the process is being delayed until the Catalan giants are able to register new signings Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny.
Until that happens, Pena’s exit cannot be finalised. Meanwhile, Celta’s interest in the goalkeeper hinges on key conditions that they are only willing to pursue the deal if there is no transfer fee involved and if Pena agrees to take a significant pay cut.
These factors could slow down talks, but the door remains open.
For now, Celta Vigo are keeping a close eye on Pena’s situation. If Radu fails to improve and Villar doesn’t step up, the Barcelona shot-stopper could become a valuable solution for a club in need of stability at the back.
