Celtic are being linked with a free transfer move for Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken. The 25-year-old has become a key figure at Dens Park under both Tony Docherty and Steven Pressley but he’s out of contract in the summer.

As per Football Insider, Celtic are interested in signing the Scottish stopper as they look to recruit in the goalkeeping department this summer.

Despite starting the season as second choice, Finnish goalkeeper Vil Sinisalo has established himself as the first pick goalkeeper, given Kasper Schmeichel’s form and injury.

Schmeichel is set to leave Celtic this summer, as he recovers from a shoulder injury. The 39-year-old was impressive in his first season for Celtic before picking up an injury on international duty last March. The Premier League winner failed to recover properly, leading to a number of uncharacteristic mistakes from Schmeichel, which prompted calls for Sinisalo to assume the No.1 slot.

Celtic exploited the free agent market last summer to replace Scott Bain with Ross Doohan from Aberdeen. The club have UEFA quotas to keep in mind and require a certain amount of Scottish players, something that is proving to be harder given the lack of players coming through from the Academy.

McCracken, who came through the Hamilton Accies and Norwich academies, has made 71 appearances for Dundee and has impressed, earning a call up into the Scotland squad.
