Celtic have reportedly reignited their interest in Danish striker Kasper Hogh. The 25-year-old was a target in January but Bodo/Glimt’s UEFA Champions League progression derailed any potential move.

Now Sun Sport are reporting that Celtic are back in for the Danish Internationalist with a move expected to cost in excess of £7m.

There does not appear to be any more than an update on Celtic’s interest at this stage. This is somewhat concerning given the proximity to the season, with bids typically required to broker deals.

Despite signing Camilo Duran from Qarabag, Celtic want more options in attack and Hogh is admired by the club. The Bodo/Glimt skipper has 54 goals and 22 assists in 103 appearances for the Arctic Circle side.

Celtic have Callum Osmand, Johnny Kenny and Duran as their striking options ahead of the new season. Daizen Maeda is expected to depart for the Premier League and Celtic are in need of a ‘first pick’ striker to come in. Last season, Celtic did not replace Adam Idah or Nicholas Kühn and it is important to ensure that there are adequate goals in the team after a lacklustre year in front of goal.

The report also claims that Celtic are interested in Torino’s Gvidas Gineitis as a potential replacement for Arne Engels. The Belgian is primed to depart this summer for £25m+ with Celtic in desperate need to replace the athleticism of Engels in the midfield.

Celtic are also expected to sign Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo. The Spanish side want to maximise the value in the 24-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract. Hassan caught the eye in the World Cup with an impressive run and assist against eventual finalists Argentina.

The lack of urgency in Celtic’s transfer business has been a real cause of concern amongst supporters, especially given the seemingly obvious re-signing of Marcelo Saracchi and possibly Kelechi Iheanacho too. Both spoke of their eagerness to return to the club this season but Saracchi announced he would not be coming back despite his best efforts while Iheanacho went to Turkish side Bursaspor.
