Zona Mixta reports that uncertainty around César Azpilicueta’s contract will now shape those plans. The defender’s deal included a one-year extension if he reached 25 official appearances, but that automatic trigger is now out of reach.

After remaining on the bench at Camp Nou, he stands on 14 outings with 10 games left, so he cannot hit the threshold. His current contract runs until 30 June, leaving his future open.

Matías Almeyda held him back against Barcelona to prioritise the vital meeting with Valencia, avoiding any risk. The consequence is the loss of that automatic renewal, so any continuation would depend on talks led by Antonio Cordón.

ElDesmarque adds that Azpilicueta prefers to focus on the day to day, while his leadership remains a live consideration. Sevilla have tended to perform better when he anchors the defence. Arouna Sangante and Juan Iglesias are viewed as additions for next season.
