Charles made his first official appearance under Diniz as Corinthians beat Rosario Central 1-0 at Neo Química Arena on Thursday night to reach the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals.

According to Meu Timao, the midfielder had been out of competitive action for more than four months.

Wearing number 35, he entered in the 44th minute of the second half for forward Kaio César, a switch aimed at reinforcing the midfield.

His previous official outing for Corinthians was the 3-1 defeat to Fluminense on 1 April, when Dorival Júnior was head coach. He also played in a 1-1 friendly against Cascavel on 12 July, which does not count as an official match.

Off the pitch, the Court of Arbitration for Sport decided that Corinthians must pay more than R$ six million to Midtjylland for breaching the agreement made during his signing, completed in the second half of 2024.

With Charles available, Fernando Diniz’s side visit Coritiba at Estádio Couto Pereira on Sunday at 19:30, in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
