Charlton Athletic boss, Nathan Jones has revealed what he gets up to in his spare time away from the managerial hot seat at The Valley.

Charlton Athletic boss, Nathan Jones once issued an insight into what he gets up to in his spare time away from football, and it might surprise a few of the club's fanbase.

The Addicks manager is well-known for his eye-catching passion in the dugout during and after matches, and the club's supporters will be hoping that the Welshman can continue to fire Charlton up the Championship table.

Jones has been in the managerial hot seat with Charlton since 2024, and guided them to promotion from League One, just over a year after being appointed.

In an interview with The Guardian before Charlton's League One play-off final against Leyton Orient back in May 2025, Jones revealed his love for music, whilst also revealing that he had a set of DJ decks whilst playing for Brighton from 2000-2005.

Everyone's passion has to start somewhere, and for Jones, his interest in music came from his dad, and the Charlton boss name-dropped some of his father's favourite music artists.

"Myself and Phil Chapple [the head of recruitment] watched 24 Hour Party People last night. Great film," Jones said.

"That was the music I was brought up on. My dad loved Eric Clapton, Queen, Michael Jackson, so I was educated from there. I grew up in the 80s, probably the best era for bands, and I caught the tail end of the Haçienda and indie era, which led into the 90s."

Jones was clearly into his music, which eventually led him to try his hand at DJing while he was on Brighton's books, which was a successful one which yielded two promotions during his time with the club.

"I used to do a bit of DJing when I was a kid, when I was [a player] at Brighton, house music," Jones said. "I wasn't any good, but I had my decks and I love my music."

It's a glimpse of a life away from the technical area that few would associate with the intense, demanding figure Charlton's players have come to know over the past 18 months.

Charlton made a fast start to this year's Championship campaign, as they beat the likes of Derby County, West Ham, and Preston North End, before tasting defeat for the first time in the 2026/27 season, as they were convincingly beaten by Stoke City in midweek, which will have been tough to take for Jones, who endured a forgetful spell in charge of the Potters back in 2019.

The Addicks are certainly heading in the right direction under Jones' management, and it'll be interesting to see whether the new additions that the Welshman has made to his squad this summer can settle in as soon as possible, as that could be the difference between a top-half finish, and a relegation scrap this term.

If they can bounce back from their heavy defeat to Stoke City with a run of positive results, then the Addicks could be the surprise package in the Championship this season, as not many would have predicted that they'd start as strongly as they have so far.

That's a credit to the job that Nathan Jones is doing, and he's a manager that will catch the eye with his passion, as well as the results he's picking up in charge of Charlton.
