AFC Bournemouth are not open to offers for Chelsea target Alex Scott during the January transfer window, according to reports.

As previously reported, Chelsea remain open to the idea of bringing in a new midfielder in January after failing to secure a replacement for Enzo Fernandez late in the summer transfer window.

The Blues were very close to signing Lamine Camara from AS Monaco before the Ligue 1 side made a U-turn on the proposed agreement, and the move fell through at the last minute.

If Chelsea are to reinforce their midfield in the winter transfer window, it is likely they would reignite interest in their previous targets. Aside from Camara, Scott was another player on Chelsea’s summer shortlist.

Chelsea were believed to have made an early move for Scott in the summer, but saw their £64 million bid for the midfielder turned down.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, Bournemouth are understood not to have changed their stance and remain unwilling to consider offers for the player during the January window, according to the BBC.

On the other hand, Scott himself is said to be keen on leaving the Vitality Stadium, despite having shown no signs of discontent.

Scott, who made his senior England debut in Wednesday’s 2-0 Nations League win over Czechia, will enter the final 18 months of his contract with Bournemouth soon. He is said to have turned down two new contract offers from Bournemouth before the summer window.

At the end of the season, when Scott begins to enter the final year of his deal, Bournemouth will be under pressure to cash in on the midfielder if the contract situation remains.

However, Chelsea are not the only club in the race for the 23-year-old, with Arsenal and Liverpool also having shown interest.

Aside from Camara and Scott, Chelsea also held talks over AS Roma’s Manu Kone and showed interest in Fulham’s Sander Berge.

Similar to Bournemouth, neither Monaco, Roma nor Fulham are reported to be open to letting go of their midfielders in January.

It is no surprise that clubs are reluctant to sell key players mid-season and risk their campaigns, which is likely why Chelsea are also hoping to solve their midfield situation with internal options.

In addition to waiting to see whether Moises Caicedo’s eventual return could stabilise the midfield, the Blues are also giving academy midfielders Reggie Watson and Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli opportunities to make an impact as fringe options.
