Chelsea miss chance to capitalise on dropped points by Manchester Unietd and Liverpool
Chelsea’s push for Champions League football suffered an almighty blow at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as they were thrashed 3-0 by Everton.
Beto scored twice for the hosts, one of them a gift after a huge error by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
And then Iliman Ndiaye scored a stunning third for the Toffees to pile the misery on the Chelsea, who have now lost four games in a row.
Dom Smith was at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to run the rule over the Chelsea players…
Robert Sanchez 2
A real lack of focus saw him tackled by Beto and fortunate he was able to tackle him back before the striker could score. Then, soon after, Beto did. And then an absolute howler saw Beto fire through him for his and Everton’s second.
Malo Gusto 4
Made one good block but was dispossessed a few too many times and taken off at the halfway stage.
Wesley Fofana 4
Another error-prone evening for the Frenchman, recalled into the line-up after being dropped against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
Jorrel Hato 6
One of Chelsea’s better players on a grim evening. Slotted in well at centre-back, where there could be more minutes to follow in the coming weeks.
Marc Cucurella 5
Worked hard but struggled to create chances in the final third and and found Dwight McNeil hard to contain down Everton’s right.
On the occasion of just his second Premier League start of the season, Lavia was given a difficult afternoon, making a few key tackles but misplacing some passes too and not able to screen the defence effectively.

Moises Caicedo 6
Won plenty of tackles in midfield and then moved to right-back when Gusto was taken off. Did well.
Cole Palmer 6
Some nice forays forward with the ball but very little end product and did get lost for long periods of this match.
Enzo Fernandez 6
Denied three times by Jordan Pickford and was lively throughout, beginning as a No10 and then moving to No8.
Pedro Neto 5
Didn’t have much luck down the left when trying to beat his man and deliver. Ineffectual, and subbed.
Joao Pedro 5
A really quiet outing for the Brazilian, given so little service and unable to create things himself.
Subs:
Alejandro Garnacho (Gusto, 46’) 4
Really poor in the final third and didn’t give Chelsea the added boost they needed once he came on at half-time.
Andrey Santos (Lavia, 57’) 4
It was his error that led to Everton’s second goal on a substitute appearance to forget.
Estevao (Neto, 70’) 6
Came on for his first appearance in over a month following a hamstring injury. Very lively and two wicked corner deliveries deserved far better.
Tosin Adarabioyo (Caicedo, 77’) N/A
Liam Delap (Joao Pedro, 78’) N/A
Not used: Sharman-Lowe, Essugo, Sarr, Acheampong
