While the presidential election is just around the corner, Real Madrid appear to have accelerated their transfer plans for the summer ahead.

The club are expected to sign at least two centre-backs, with Ibrahima Konate already agreeing initial terms with the club over a free transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Apart from defence, midfield is also a key point of weakness for Real Madrid, with Enzo Fernandez emerging as the club’s biggest target.

However, a recent report from Daily Mail suggests Chelsea are not too keen on selling their star midfielder.

They have, in fact, slapped a £120 million price-tag on the Argentine international, which translates to roughly around €140 million. However, it must be noted that this is the upper end of the price tag.

The actual deal value might be slightly lower, but it is significant nonetheless, one that could potentially leave Real Madrid out of contention.

The report adds that Real Madrid could look at the option of adding several players in the deal, in order to sweeten Chelsea’s final ask.

It further states that Chelsea were extremely interested in Dean Huijsen prior to his move to Real Madrid. He fits perfectly into Xabi Alonso’s plans as well, as admitted by the player himself.

It has not been mentioned whether Los Blancos are interested in offering Huijsen as part of the deal, though.

For now, the ball is firmly in Real Madrid’s court, with Chelsea in no rush to offload the Argentine international, who is keen on finalising his future before the start of the World Cup.
