Blues hunting first win since memorable night against Barcelona as they host in-form Toffees

Chelsea face a potentially difficult challenge against Everton in the Premier League today as they bid to halt their recent winless run.

The Blues have gone four games without a victory across all competitions since brushing aside Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League last month, with Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Atalanta damaging their hopes of automatic qualification for the knockout phase of Europe’s elite club competition.

Attentions now shift back towards domestic matters as Enzo Maresca’s side aim to get back on track amid their title credentials being questioned amid a poor run of form.

Chelsea start the weekend in fifth, seven points off leaders Arsenal, but have ground to make up on Manchester City and Aston Villa before entertaining the idea of a championship challenge.

Everton, meanwhile, are in good form having recorded back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest to sit seventh in the table and can leapfrog the Blues with victory.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Chelsea vs Everton is scheduled for a 3pm GMT kick-off today on Saturday December 13, 2025.

The match will take place at Stamford Bridge in west London.

Chelsea vs Everton team news

Cole Palmer is expected to return for Chelsea against Everton after missing the loss to Atalanta in midweek. Maresca has revealed that the club are still managing the attacking midfielder’s minutes following a long injury lay-off.

A return for Palmer could see Enzo Fernandez moved into a deeper midfield role with Moises Caicedo set to serve the final game of his three-match domestic suspension.

Wesley Fofana is fully fit despite suffering a freak eye injury in Bergamo, while Liam Delap is sidelined after sustaining a shoulder injury in the goalless draw with Bournemouth.

Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo and Levi Colwill are Chelsea’s other injury casualties and it remains to be seen if captain Reece James can start a third game in a week.

As for Everton, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his permanent move to Merseyside in the summer.

Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam are both available after suspension while Thierno Barry could feature after a shoulder issue and Iliman Ndiaye plays his final game before departing for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and Merlin Rohl are all sidelined.

Chelsea vs Everton prediction

The incentive is there for Everton; win and leapfrog Chelsea in the Premier League table. The Toffees are in good form going into the game, winning their last two away matches without conceding a goal.

There’s an argument to say that they are playing Chelsea at the ideal time given the form Maresca’s side are currently in.

It’s certainly a potential banana skin for the hosts and we think the two sides will have to settle for a share of the spoils.

Draw, 1-1.
