Blues conclude their pre-season tour in Malaysia
Chelsea rounded off their pre-season tour with a chaotic 3-3 draw against Johor Darul Ta’zim in Malaysia, in a match that ended with tempers flaring and seven yellow cards. The hosts struck first against the run of play, exposing a Chelsea back three that looked increasingly vulnerable. JDT repeatedly tested the Blues with late challenges and off-the-ball exchanges, with Tosin Adarabioyo among those visibly frustrated by the hosts’ approach.
Liam Delap restored parity from the penalty spot shortly before half-time, but missed a golden opportunity moments later to put Chelsea ahead. The striker made amends after the break, converting another penalty to give the visitors the lead. Chelsea, however, were unable to see out the game. JDT struck twice in the closing stages to turn the contest around, only for Mykhailo Mudryk’s cross to be turned into his own net by Antonio Glauder as Chelsea snatched a late equaliser.
A penalty shootout had been expected to decide the match, but the CFC+ commentary team suggested the spot-kicks were abandoned because of the increasingly heated atmosphere. Chelsea now turn their attention to the new season.
