It was a must-win game for Rangers this afternoon, particularly after Hearts’ and Celtic’s victories in their respective fixtures. They travelled to the Central Lowlands to lock horns with Falkirk, and were in serious trouble, being two goals down within half an hour. However, they scripted a stellar comeback and secured a 6-3 win, having drawn with the Bairns in the previous two meetings earlier this season.

Rangers players rated in their dramatic 6-3 win against Falkirk.

Jack Butland: 5.5

Not a comfortable outing for the Englishman, who hardly made a save and conceded thrice in this nine-goal thriller.

James Tavernier: 5.5

Returned to the starting XI, replacing Dujon Sterling. But the club skipper looked unsettled and nervous against Falkirk’s attacking threats. Conceded a spot-kick in the second half, thus allowing the hosts to reduce the deficit around the 70th-minute mark.

Nasser Djiga: 6

Despite a strong run in recent games, the on-loan Wolves centre-half had a dismal first half an hour. Was slow with his movements, but improved his display with timely clearances, recoveries and duels as the game progressed.

Emmanuel Fernandez: 7

Was better than Djiga in the heart of the backline. Tried to calm things down with his ball-playing and ball-carrying attributes. Dominated the aerial duels and also made several no-nonsense clearances.

Jayden Meghoma: 6.5

Started down the left amid Tuur Rommens’ injury absence. But the Brentford loanee lacked the momentum, as he failed with his dribbling attempts and passing accuracy. Danny Rohl opted to take him off and introduced Max Aarons soon after Falkirk’s third.

Nicolas Raskin: 8.5

Overcame the early shambles and took control of the midfield game. Earned his side a 3-2 lead with a great run and finish, and then set it up for Bojan Miovski minutes later with a pinpoint cross.

Tochi Chukwuani: 8

Lost a few duels in the centre of the pitch and got dispossessed on a couple of occasions. But he instigated Rangers’ comeback by making it 2-1 moments before the half-time whistle. Made way for Oliver Antman late in the contest.

Djeidi Gassama: 7.5

Started from the right ahead of Andreas Skov Olsen. However, his performance improved immensely after the break since being shifted down the left as a tactical alteration. Laid it on for Youssef Chermiti, who grabbed an equaliser two minutes into the second half. Was taken off for Mohamed Diomande for the final few minutes of the match.

Thelo Aasgaard: 7.5

Started as a ‘number 10′ but was slotted on the right when Rohl opted for a 4-2-2-2 in the second half. Assisted Raskin for the Gers’ third of the afternoon and was eventually replaced by Connor Barron around the 77th-minute mark.

Mikey Moore: 6

Struggled from the flank, except for an on-target attempt. Lost the duels and dribbles, and the gaffer took him off at half-time in favour of Bojan Miovski.

Youssef Chermiti: 9

Had a dismal start but the unpredictable Portuguese turned things around, as he not only equalised soon after the break but also restored a two-goal cushion minutes after Calvin Miller’s spot-kick.

Rangers Subs vs Falkirk

Bojan Miovski: 8.5

The ‘super sub’ struck twice, as he made it 4-2 with an first-time effort. Sealed the game in the closing minutes wiith a back post tap-in.

Max Aarons: 6.5

Rare minutes for the right fullback, who was deployed from the left in place of Meghoma. Was combative on the duels and showed the right balance between attack and defence.

Connor Barron: 6

Still needs time to regain rhythm, as he missed months of action due to injury.

Mohamed Diomande: NA

Oliver Antman: NA
