Rangers are locked in a tight race for the Scottish Premiership title as the season enters the final phase in April 2026. Following a high-scoring 6-3 win over Falkirk on 12 April, the Ibrox side sit in second place with 69 points, trailing the leaders by just one point after 33 matches. This run of form follows a string of domestic wins, including a 4-2 victory against Dundee United and a 4-1 win over Aberdeen.

Manager Danny Rohl has turned the squad into a high-scoring attacking side, though the upcoming post-split fixtures against rivals like Celtic and Hearts will ultimately decide the title. Fans are still hopeful as the team balance this league surge with the memory of their European run, where they held their own against the likes of Porto and Roma earlier this year.

According to reports from Africafoot, PSV Eindhoven have made contact with Youssef Chermiti’s representatives to talk about a potential summer move. The 21-year-old Portuguese forward joined Rangers from Everton last summer for a fee that could rise to £10m, and he is currently under contract until 2029.

While he found it hard to score at first, Chermiti has hit his stride under Rohl, putting up 11 goals and 3 assists in 1,523 minutes of Premiership play this season. PSV think the striker would be a perfect fit for the Eredivisie, but Rangers see his improved form as a reason to hold out for a big fee.

The price tag is the main sticking point, especially because Everton kept a significant sell-on clause; Rangers would need a massive offer to make any real profit. Interest from abroad isn’t going away, even though the Gers already knocked back a January bid from Fenerbahce.

Should Rangers cash in on their Portuguese star?

Rangers should avoid the temptation to sell Youssef Chermiti this summer. Losing him now would gut the squad’s attacking options just as they are starting to build momentum. While a huge check from PSV might look good for the club’s player trading books, Ryan Naderi’s current injury makes Chermiti vital for the title run-in. Because of that sell-on clause owed to Everton, a big chunk of any transfer fee would vanish immediately, leaving very little in the budget to find a replacement with his 1.92m physical presence.

Besides, the striker is only just starting to reward the club’s patience after a slow start, and his 11 goals suggest he is worth far more than his current €9m valuation. Selling a top scorer to a European rival just as the team are finding their identity under Danny Rohl would be the wrong signal to send to the fans. Rangers should either demand a massive sum or keep him to make sure they stay at the top of Scottish football next season.
